Westmont College
Located in Santa Barbara, California, Westmont College is home to around 1,300 students who wish to study at a liberal arts college with an emphasis in interdenominational Christian education.Students aren’t required to declare majors until after their first year at the school, so they are able to change emphasis without issue. Westmont can offer as many as 26 undergraduate majors. The student-faculty ration is a big plus (12 to 1) so personalized attention is available. The faculty can easily meet the needs of the students, since as many as 96 percent of the teachers are tenured or on tenure track. The average class size is around 18 students. A wide variety of students are from 25 states and nearly a dozen countries. Many Christian denominations are represented.
Students are focused on the strong graduation rate of nearly 87 percent after four years.
U.S. News and World Report acknowledged Westmont College as the 90th best college in its list of liberal arts institutions. Another magazine, Forbes, ranked the school as 103rd out of 650 private or public universities in the U.S.
Westmont is committed to character development, and was recognized by The Templeton Foundation in its list of top 100 colleges in that regard.
