Scripps Research Institute
The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) is a non-profit medical research institute located in San Diego, California. TSRI is focused on furthering medical research and providing education in the field of biomedical science. At any given time, there are approximately 3,000 graduate students, scientists, technicians, administrators, and staff members at the Scripps Research Institute. In addition to its main facility in San Diego, TSRI also maintains a sister location in Jupiter, Florida.In its educational offerings, TSRI places its focus on interdisciplinary studies, with departments designed to provide support for the faculty. These departments are organized around the following fields of study: chemical physiology, immunology & microbial science, molecular and cellular neuroscience, molecular therapeutics, aging & metabolism, cancer biology, chemistry, infectious diseases, molecular & experimental medicine, and neurobiology of addictive disorders.
The Scripps Research Institute was ranked #1 worldwide by the Science Watch survey, in terms of citations per published academic paper, and was noted as a standout in the scientific community.
Both the San Diego and Jupiter campuses provide educational outreach programs to high school and undergraduate students who want to learn more about science.
