The college only offers undergraduate degrees with its four-year programs, and about 1,600 students join the college yearly. As the first of the Claremont Colleges, Pomona offers a coed, non-religious environment. For almost a century, the Claremont Colleges have offered the students of all its campuses the opportunities found at larger schools while preserving the atmosphere of a small institution. Based on per capita, the college has also been named as the most awarded college for liberal arts and the nation’s fourth most awarded institution. While most classes hold fifteen students, Pomona provides a professor for every 8 students, and its professors instruct all the courses offered.
