Gavilan College
The campus of Gavilan College is in Gilroy, California. The school, which was once known as San Benito County Junior College, has also added satellite campuses in the cities of Hollister and Morgan Hill.Programs that are available for study are varied, including Administration of Justice, Digital Media, Nursing, Biological Sciences, Child Development and Liberal Arts, among others. Gavilan College has the distinction as the only community college in the area of northern California that offers programs of degrees and certificates in Aviation Maintenance Technology.
The institute also has a high school on location, Dr. TJ Owens Gilroy Early College Academy (GECA). Those students get a head start on college by taking honors classes, as well as advanced placement studies, to complete up to two years of college while still in high school. Many of these students graduate with additional college credits to help them on their way to their major disciplines.
For students seeking a convenient and flexible higher education option, Gavilan now offers online classes and courses through it distance education department. Online learning at Gavilan allows working students and business professionals to earn their degree.
