California Institute of Integral Studies
California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) is a private institution enrolling approximately 1,400 students. CIIS was founded in 1968, and is located in San Francisco, California. There are three academic schools under the CIIS institutional umbrella: the School of Consciousness and Transformation (providing training in the humanities), the School of Professional Psychology & Health, and the School of Undergraduate Studies. The school's curriculum examines mainstream subjects from a spiritual perspective, incorporating teachings and ideas from a wide variety of esoteric and mystical traditions. The Institute's beginnings are found among the followers of Sri Aurobindo, a Bengali sage; however, CIIS does not claim any official spiritual path, and its students and faculty represent numerous perspectives and backgrounds.
The institute now offers several of its graduate degrees entirely online. Current distance learning online degrees available include the Master of Art in Transformative Leadership and the PhD in Transformative Studies.
CIIS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
